Stronger

Okay, so, that story took a while. That went on well. My goal with those is to start them on September 1st and write them until they end on Halloween night and that one ... worked. I typed the last word of it almost exactly at 11:59pm on October 31st.

I liked it. I hope others did as well.

Let's turn the page on that now, shall we?


If you notice above... my site's graphic announcing to you that you're here on my website says "Stronger" under the title. That was added... I think... in around 2019... some time before 2020... maybe even 2018.

So, in 2018ish, I added "Stronger" to the title graphic. If anyone is wondering what that means... I will explain it, today.

I started this site in 2011, it says, so by 2018, I was already almost a decade into Writing on Subjects, you see... and it was getting a little dull. I wasn't a short story writer back then either. I was trying to break into media with a sort of silly character who had like interesting and/or cool opinions on all kinds of fun stuff.

After almost ten years of Writing on these Subjects... it got old.... I needed to spice it up a bit. I thought I would make a new graphic at the top of the site. I added some wicked Purple Lightning, "New" and "Two" to it... to start. That way I would assure the handful of internet travelers who find my website that what is going to be written here is going to be much Newer, way more differenter... and better.

But...

Then I thought... wait... would adding "New" to it makes it sound like New Coke... which was dumb?

I remember thinking... I don't want to be like New Coke... so I knew I needed to add something else under the title of this website. I wanted people to know these Writings on these many varied Subjects were going to be New but I didn't want them to think these Writings would be like New Coke... so I put something even more powerful under the title, after.

I put "Stronger".

This, of course, comes from the TV show Kamen Rider which has been running in some form since 1971.

If you've never heard of Kamen Rider... hmmm... let me see...

If we think of Batman from the 1960s we also think of The Green Hornet which was on around the same time. I'd compare Kamen Rider to The Green Hornet. It was sort of second fiddle to Batman.

So... basically... Ultra Man in the sixties was the main show of this genre in Japan... while in the USA Adam West's Batman was the most popular genre of this show. The second most popular show in the USA in that era, of this genre, was The Green Hornet... which is what I'd compare Kamen Rider to something audiences here would be familiar with.

Kamen Rider wasn't a Hornet though... he was a Beetle... a Beetle who rode a motor cycle.

Truth to be told... I can't claim to be an expert on Kamen Rider. I've seen quite a few shows, mostly the older ones... it still exists in some form today, actually. The special effects are much better than they used to be where Kamen Rider would fight these bad monsters who take human form and were pretty campy looking.

I am a huge fan of the theme songs of these shows... especially one in particular. I get very pumped listening to the theme song to Kamen Rider: Stronger!

Oh yes, this man, Ichirou Mizuki, can sing his ass off!

If you're wondering about the pronunciation of "Stronger" it's not two syllables, by the way. As we can hear in the video above... it is more like three or even four.

STRAW HONG... GER!!!

I've listened to this song hundreds if not thousands of times. I love this song. It really speaks to me on an emotional level. This Kamen Rider reboot wasn't like "New Kamen Rider" or a letter like "Kamen Rider X" or "Kamen Rider Z" of "Kamen Rider ZX"... this Kamen Rider was STRONGER.

In my opinion, Kamen Rider Stronger was the strongest of any of the Kamen Riders.

I saw on Twitter last week or so that Ichirou Mizuki passed away at the age of 74. The tweet his representatives put out of his passing was retweeted like 200,000 times. He's not very known in this part of the world... but he was a gigantic super star. A global singing phenomenon! He could really knock it out! He could tear the place down!

So, that's where the "Stronger" in the graphic on this website came from. I wanted people to know this site is more backer and more better... but more importantly... it's... STRAAAAW HOOOONG.... GER!

It's important to be Stronger, I think.


Rest in peace, great singer Ichirou Mizuki... the man who coined the term "Stronger."

His main theme he's known for is Mazinger Z, I think... which is also a very powerful song:
